The Digital Communication Trainee will support DRC Cameroon and DRC Nigeria (mutualized position) in strengthening the visibility, reputation, and digital presence of DRC in both countries, ensuring alignment with DRC’s global branding standards. Based at the Coordination Office, and under the supervision of the PDQ Manager (PDQM) based Yaoundé, the person will assist in the development and implementation of DRC’s digital communication strategy, including content production, social media management, and online audience engagement in Cameroon and Nigeria. The person will contribute to producing high-quality digital materials (texts, visuals, photos, shorts, videos) and disseminating them across multiple channels, supporting DRC’s positioning as a key humanitarian and development actor in the region. In close collaboration with programme teams, the role will also support the development of communication assets for private foundations, corporate partners, and other alternative funding prospects. NB : Please note that DRC cannot offer an expatriate contract to a citizen of the country where the position is based. If a Cameroonian is selected, the position will be nationalized, aligned with national Band H, and its title will become Digital Communication Officer. 1. Duties and Responsibilities Under the management of the PDQM, the Digital Communication Trainee will have the following main responsibilities: A. Digital Communication Strategy/ Branding Support the development and roll-out of the digital communication strategy for DRC Cameroon and DRC Nigeria. Ensure that DRC Cameroon and DRC Nigeria’s image is consistent with global branding guidelines, in collaboration with DRC Global Communication Team. Support the update of both Cameroon and Nigeria webpages on DRC Global website Contribute to safeguarding the organization’s e-reputation across all digital platforms. B. Content Production and Dissemination Produce and adapt high-quality digital content (texts, visuals, photos, shorts, videos, infographics) to highlight DRC’s programmes, impact stories, events, and advocacy messages. Ensure cross-channel dissemination of content through social media, newsletters, e-mail and other digital tools. Ensure regular communication with donors related to content on DRC’s projects they support. C. Social Media Management Update, maintain, and improve DRC’s social media platforms (including the creation of a dedicated Facebook page for both countries, in Cameroon and Nigeria. Animate and moderate DRC Cameroon/Nigeria social media communities in line with safeguarding and communication protocols. Ensure communication with DRC Global Communication team to share content on DRC Cameroon and DRC Nigeria on DRC Global social media (Facebook, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Instagram) D. Digital Analytics Track and analyse the performance of digital campaigns, social media metrics, and newsletters for Cameroon and Nigeria. Support the development of KPIs to measure visibility, engagement, and outreach across both countries. Produce regular analytics dashboards and suggest improvements to enhance digital impact. Conduct continuous monitoring of digital trends, NGO communication practices, and innovative tools relevant for humanitarian communication and alternative funding. Provide recommendations to the PDQM and SMT on opportunities for visibility, audience growth, or improved engagement. E. Fundraising/ Outreach Activities Assist in preparing visibility campaigns, events, workshops, salons, alternative funding engagement initiatives, and donor-facing communication materials. Contribute to developing communication assets for private foundations, corporate partners, and alternative funding prospects. F. Internal Coordination Coordinate closely with programme teams in both Cameroon and Nigeria to gather information, success stories, and multimedia content. Collaborate with field communication focal points to ensure consistency of messages and compliance with DRC standards. Contribute to internal communication tools (briefs, updates, internal newsletters) as requested by the PDQM. In addition to the above, the Digital Communication Trainee may be asked to carry out other duties requested by the PDQM, Head of Programme, or Country Director. 2. Required Qualifications - At least 2 years' experience in communication, marketing, or digital content creation - University Degree in communication, journalism or similar or equivalent professional qualification - Solid understanding of major social media platforms: Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X (Twitter), TikTok - Basic knowledge of digital marketing principles: SEO, content scheduling, analytics, community management - Basic video production skills (shooting short clips, simple animations) - Proficiency with common digital tools (Canva, Publisher, etc.) - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to adjust communication to various stakeholders and audiences - Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to follow brand guidelines - Proven interest in international development and the humanitarian field - Fluency in written and spoken both English and French b) Desirable - Experience working for the humanitarian or development sector (INGOs, NGO, IOs) - Experience with advanced design or editing tools: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro) - Experience with email marketing tools: Mailchimp, Sendinblue, HubSpot CRM - Familiarity with influencer outreach 3.
